Mary Sardella Formisano, a longtime resident, died on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Middletown Park Health Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was 93.
The daughter of the late Victor and Theresa Schumaci Sardella, she was born on April 2, 1921 in Middletown, NY. Mary married Michael Formisano on April 12, 1942 at Webb Horton Church in Middletown. Michael predeceased her in 1995. Mary’s family was the center of her universe, she kept her family tightly knit her whole lifetime. She enjoyed staying active and being around people. Mary loved trips to Atlantic City and local Bingo.
She is survived by her son, Gary and his wife Colleen of Middletown and one brother, Victor “Sye” Sardella, Jr; two beloved grandchildren, Blair Formisano Dolan and Michael Ira Formisano and one great-grandchild and her daughter-in-law, Patricia Neely Formisano.
In addition to her husband Michael, she was predeceased by her son Michael J. Formisano, two sisters Frances Catizone and Victoria Burretto and one brother Gerald Sardella.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the funeral home, Rev. Fred Knoll will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery in Middletown.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary's name may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 419 East Main St, Middletown, NY 10940.
