Mary Josephine Morris Schombert, a longtime area resident, died Saturday, May 26, 2007 at Park Manor Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Middletown. She was 68 years old.
The daughter of the late Mary Josephine Morris, she was born on February 19, 1939 in Claire Morris, County Mayo, Ireland. Mary immigrated to the United States in 1959 Mary worked in the cafeteria at Our Lady Mt. Carmel for many years; then worked as a service clerk for Shop Rite for 20 years.
She retired and enjoyed spending time with her friends and was elected to represent the aide to the grand marshal of the Irish American Club in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. She was a people person who spent time listening to others, a thoughtful generous friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter Lisa Evans of Elizabeth, CO and one grandson, Daniel Murphy and one step brother Andrew of Ireland.
Family and friends are invited to call from 7-9pm on Thursday May31 at Applebee McPhillips Funeral Home, inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 1 at 11am in Our Lady Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Ave., Middletown.
Burial will follow in the family plot in Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery. In Mary’s memory, donations can be made to either Fr. James Hess Scholarship Fund at Our Lady Mt Carmel School, 90 Euclid Ave, Middletown, NY 10940 or to The American Cancer Society 419 East Main Street, Middletown, NY 10940
