Mary Ann Kilgore, 92, of Middletown, NY passed away on March 8, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family and her home health care angel, Terri. Mary exited this world the way she wanted to; home, warm and in her bed surrounded by so many who loved her. She will be long remembered by many for her legendary love of all things chocolate, her yellow 2-door coupe with vanity plates and her signature greeting, “Hello, love!” As we gather to celebrate her life we say, “You go, Nan! We will always be hugging you!”
Mary was born in New York, NY on May 10, 1920 to the late John and Mary Heiberger. She was a civilian employee of the U.S. Naval Shipyard, Brooklyn, NY during World War II. Mary was a member and a Eucharistic minister at Our Lady of the Assumption Church and a longtime resident of Bloomingburg, NY. She was an employee of Mid-City Transit, Middletown, NY for many years and retired at the age of 84.
Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, William J. Kilgore, her daughter, Sr. Marianne Kilgore, O.P., her sister Carrie Heiberger, her grandson Brandon Kilgore and her great granddaughter Nicole Brooke.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Barbara E. Goin and her husband Jack of Calabash, NC; Theresa Kilgore Dering and her husband Brian of Middletown; two sons, William T. Kilgore and his wife Donna of Townsend, MA and James M. Kilgore and his wife Karen of Monticello, NY. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Candy, Kerri, John, Laurie, Chris, Ryan and DeeDee and 13 great grandchildren; Ashley, Kayla, Courtnie, Adyson, Ariel, Ray, Brennan, Allie, Conor, Jameson, Will, Rory and Brynn.
Visitation hours are on Monday, March 11, 2013 from 4 to 8 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 10 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown.
