Obituary for Marsha Eldridge
In Loving Memory
Marsha L. Eldridge
04/24/1948 - 09/20/2013
Marsha Lee Eldridge, a native of Middletown, NY, died after a long illness on September 20, 2013 in hospice care in Concord, MA. She was 65 years old.
The daughter of the late Marshall S. Eldridge and Lila Suzanne (Sue) Bryson Eldridge, she was born April 24, 1948, in Middletown, NY. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1966 and moved to Boston, MA, to attend the Cambridge School of Business. She remained in the greater Boston area throughout her adult life.
Marsha was passionate about two things throughout her life: ballet and fashion. She studied ballet as a girl, and was always excited to attend professional ballet performances whenever she had the opportunity as an adult. Always dressed in impeccable style, her interest in fashion was also expressed in her career in retail – working for stores such as Bonwit Teller, Freed of London, Chadwicks of Boston, and Kohl's Department Store. While serious about her work, Marsha had a playful personality, and was quick to laugh in the company of family and friends. Though her buoyant laughter was suppressed by a difficult life and a long illness, her family and friends will remember her for the sparkle in her eyes and her contagious laugh.
Marsha is survived by her sister, Natalie Eldridge and sister-in-law, Libba Ingram of Boston, MA; two step-sisters, Carol Goodwin of San Mateo, CA and Susanne Abplanalp of Ardmore, PA; and several nieces and a nephew including Emily Eldridge-Ingram of Boston, MA; Patty Burkhard of W. Hartford, CT, Kathy Abplanalp of Wynnewood, PA, and Anne Abplanalp of Downington, PA and their families.
The family will receive visitors at 10:00am, followed by a Celebration of Marsha's Life at 10:30am, on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY. Burial of ashes will follow at the Eldridge family plot in Wallkill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Marsha can be made to her beloved Boston Ballet, or to support another dance organization of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home. www.applebee-mcphillips.com
