Mark Edward Wittman, a former Middletown resident and recently of Long Beach Island, died on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center. He was 60.Â
The son of June Sweeney Wittman and the late Robert D. Wittman, he was born on March 8, 1952 in Middletown, NY.Â
He graduated from Middletown High School in 1970, and attended Alfred State College. Mark was a youth swim and dive coach and served as a high school and collegiate swim official. He was a realtor and principal broker with Joy Tanzman/Wittman Realty. Mark was past president of the Orange County Multiple Listings Service, Realtor of the Year and President of the Board of Realtors. He volunteered through different organizations sharing his expertise and knowledge of financial matters.Â
He was also an avid fan of the Yankees and the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed the beauty of Long Beach Island, in his retirement. His family and friends will remember his wonderful sense of humor and the great mental strength he possessed.Â
Mark is survived by his wife, Susan Ross Wittman of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; his mother, June; his siblings: Stephen of San Jose, CA, Bruce and his wife, Claire of Middletown, Donna Wolslayer and her husband, Richard of Middletown, Susan Janczak of Amherst, NY, Robin and his wife, Fran of Middletown, and Brian and his longtime companion, Gerri, and his sister, Kim Berry and her husband, Jim of Middletown. He was a loving and proud uncle of his nieces and nephews: Christopher, Kara, Lindsay, Jill, Erik, Shannon, Andy, Lauren, Brian, Dorthy, Kimberly, Kristin and Billy and his niece and nephew and godchildren, Michelle and Kevin. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Wendy Mahne; mother-in-law, Agnes "Sally" Ross of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; close friends and loved ones: Donald Boyer, Lindsay Grabau, Regina Corbacio, Tom, Sherry and Susan Hughes, Heather VanMarter and Kathy Hester. Mark was predeceased by his beloved father, Robert on January 14, 1996, whom he idolized.Â
Visitation hours are from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at 12 on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.Â
