Marjorie Kingsford Marshall died Sunday, March 11, 2007 at the Salvation Army Retirement Home in New York, NY. She was 100 years old.
The daughter of the late William J. and Clara Hoffman Elliot Marshall, she was born November 26, 1906 in Newark, NJ.Â
Her mother died shortly after her birth, and  Marjorie was crippled by polio as a child. She accompanied her father to Florida for several years, where he worked as a school teacher. They returned to Newark when she was nine years old, where her father married Mabel Ellison.
She attended grade school and graduated high school in Middletown. After putting herself through Hunter College in New York, she began her lengthy career in 1929. During her career, she worked for the United Church of Christ and for the National Council of Churches.
Marjorie is survived by her nieces Madelyn Hauck of Toms River, NJ, Ruth Reineck of Prescott, AZ; and her cousin Mary Olive Marshall Lee of Dearsborn, MI.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 16 at 11am at Hillside Cemetery, Mulberry Street in Middletown.
