Marie Rebecca Ferreri “Mary” entered into rest on April 20, 2010. She was 83 years old.
Marie was the daughter of the late Benjamin Fatone Rebecca and Catherine Bivona Rebecca. She was born on March 22, 1927 in New York City.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Ferreri (United States Veteran). They were married 58 years at the time of his death. She was also predeceased by their son Vincent Ferreri of Greenwood Lake, NY and her brothers, Danny and William "Willie" Rebecca.
Marie is remembered for her love of children and music and for always being cheerful. Even as the end drew near, she somehow managed to smile. She was very brave throughout her illness and that bravery continued to the end of her life.
She was the loving mother of Maria "Bunny" Ungro and her husband Richard of Greentown, PA; Catherine Santora and her companion Frank Alcaro of Bloomingdale, NJ; and mother-in-law to Christine Ferreri of Greenwood Lake, NY. She was the loving grandmother of
Joseph Valenti and and his wife Melissa; Jennifer Randazzo and her husband Frank; David Santora; Vincent Ferreri and Lisa Ferreri and her husband-to-be Keith Turner. She was also the very proud great grandmother of Alysa, Danielle and Dominic.
In addition to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, she is survived by her sisters Antoinette Maniscalco, Paula Rebecca, Judy Menzella and her husband Sal, her brother Charles Rebecca and his wife Rose and sister-in-law Lydia Rebecca, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 10 am at the funeral home. Following the service, Marie will be laid to rest beside her late husband Jim at New Prospect Cemetery, Route 52, Pine Bush, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct, Newburgh, NY 12550.
