Marie Benia Jeune, an area resident since 2001, died on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 86.
The daughter of the late Agnes Duliepe and Bernard Jeune, she was born on July 20, 1926 in DuSud, St. Jean, Haiti. Marie worked her entire life as a seamstress, sewing her children’s and other people’s children’s uniforms for school as they grew up. Her beautiful, handmade garments were passed down throughout her family. She was a great mother who nurtured many. Marie was a gifted cook who was able to make anything.
She is survived by her four children; Gary and his wife Carol of Irvington, NJ, Marie Gachette and her husband Clarke of Middletown, Flourens and his wife Megan of Northvale, NJ and Yves Marcus and his wife Megon of Buffalo, NY. Marie also leaves one brother, Joseph Jeune and one sister, Junie Jeune; as well as nine cherished grandchildren, Talisa, Shavan, Khaalid, Ki-jana, Melhea, Marisa, Jason, Troy and Victoria and two great grandchildren, Avery and Aniya.
Visitation hours are from 10 am to 12 pm on Friday, February 8, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at noon on Friday, Feb. 8th at the funeral home.
