Obituary for Mariantonia Pistoia
MARIANTONIA "MARIA" PISTOIA

October 2, 1932 - March 7, 2012

Middletown, NY

Our most deeply beloved and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and friend entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Orange Regional Medical Center. She was 79.

Mariantonia was born in Magisano, Italy on October 2, 1932. She married the love of her life and best friend, Antonio "Tony" Pistoia on October 1, 1960.

She has been a part of the Middletown community for over 40 years and worked for Calvert Coat Company as a seamstress. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph's parish in Middletown.

Her whole life was always devoted to her whole family and friends. Her example of unconditional love, courage, and strength will remain in our hearts and souls forever. The only peace we have now is that she will never suffer or be in pain any longer, and that she will be reunited again with her beloved husband.

She is survived by her most cherished and beloved children, Filomena Lia and Joseph Pistoia; her adored son-in-law, Pasquale Lia, and her most precious grandchildren: Maria and Peter Lia and Carissa and Angela Pistoia. In addition, she is also survived by her younger siblings: Rosario Rotundo and his wife, Isabella, Guisseppi and his wife, Patricia, her sister, Maria Catizone and her husband, Antonio, Cesare and his wife Emilia, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Antonio Pistoia in March 2009, also her parents, Guisseppe and Margherita Rotundo.

Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY. Entombment in the family crypt will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

A very special thank you to Dr. Dinsmore, nurses and staff at Crystal Run Healthcare for all the years of your dedication, devotion and love you all had for her. Also a very special thank you to the nurses, assistants, and OCCC students of ORMC for the most beautiful way you cared for her. Also many, many thanks to Mary M. McPhillips and family. She loved all of you and will be truly missed by all the lives she touched. Rest in Peace Mom, give our father our love.

Memorial contributions in Maria’s name may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
