MARIA GIOVANNELLI

Maria Giovanelli, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died on February 13, 2017 at Campbell Hall Health Care Center. She was 86.
The daughter of the late Antonio and Vittoria Corsti DeSantis, she was born on June 15, 1930 in Arce, Italy. Maria lived in Middletown since 1956, and was the wife of Antonio Giovannelli, who predeceased her in 2002. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She lived in the first ward till 1964 and moved to Smith Street where she enjoyed the rest of her life. Maria loved her family and she had a life time of happiness with her husband. She leaves behind her love of cooking and may she find peace and rest.
Maria is survived by her four children, Susan Meschino husband, Luigi, Vittoria Whiteley, Anthony Jr. Giovannelli and his wife, Elia and Alberto Giovannelli and wife, Jeanette. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Luca Meschino and Lucy, Anna Maria and Vincent Rahner,Louis Meschino, Alberto Giovannelli and Mattie, Maria Giovannelli, Alecia Giovannelli, Isabelle Giovannelli, Anthony Giovannelli, Monique Giovannelli,Jennifer and Kevin Hughes; four great grandchildren, Luigi Meschino, Giovanni Rahner, Luciano Giovannelli, Reagan Hughes; and her sister-in-law, Grace De Santis, and Ferrucio Sisti. Maria was blessed with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Antonio, she was predeceased by her three sisters and two brothers and one son-in-law, Robert Whiteley.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Middletown, NY.
