December 13, 1928 - November 7, 2014

Middletown, NY

Margaret Elizabeth Watters, a lifetime Middletown resident, died unexpectedly on Friday, November 7, 2014 at home. She was 85.

The daughter of the late Harry and Mary Watson Brien, she was born on December 13, 1928 in Middletown. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1946 and then married Donald Watters on November 26, 1947 in Middletown. She worked for Truman Moon School for over 30 years.

Margaret was an active and dedicated member of United Presbyterian Church in Middletown. She participated in bible study, worked in the Church Thrift Shop, taught Sunday School, served as a Deacon and member of session. She was also very active in her community and volunteered for 25 years at Orange Regional Medical Center, provided tutoring for children in need and delivered Meals on Wheels. With all of her other endeavors, she still always made time for her love of reading and was a lifetime Yankees fan.

Margaret will be dearly missed by her family, church and her community. She was a well respected, honorable woman who shared her energy with others to help to make the world a better place.

She is survived by her three sons: Harry and his wife, Priscilla, Larry and his wife, Suzanne and Robert and his wife, Jeanne; and four beloved grandchildren: Matthew, Marcus, Nicole and Dana.

Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Donald in 2012 and one sister, Eileen Brien.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12th at United Presbyterian Church of Middletown, 25 Orchard Street, Middletown, NY; Rev. Katie Torea-Rivera will officiate. Burial will follow in Orange County Veteran's Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924.

Memorial contributions in Margaret’s name may be made to her church, United Presbyterian Church of Middletown, 25 Orchard Street, Middletown, NY.
