Manuel Barbosa, loving father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at Garnet Health Center on December 3rd, 2020. He was 79.
The son of the late Alejandro and Alicia Camacho Barbosa, he was born on May 22nd, 1941 in Manhattan, NY. He was one of nine children.
Manuel enjoyed giving back to his community by making various donations. His friends and family meant the world to him, and he would do anything for those he loved. In his spare time he enjoyed going to casinos, watching college and professional football games. He was an avid Yankee fan and never missed a single Yankee game. He was a very loyal, trustworthy, funny, person who loved to travel. He enjoyed reading National Geographic and History. His wisdom on various topics was unparalleled.
Manuel is survived by his sons Manuel Barbosa of Alexandria, VA, Derek Barbosa of Ventura, CA, and Brian Barbosa, of Middletown, NY, daughter, Jannine Barbosa (Kristen), of Highland Mills, NY. Brothers; Wilfred, Alex, and Samuel Barbosa. Grandchildren; Chynna, Bella, Lyric, and Luciana, and one great-grandchild, Emaya.
In addition to his parents, Manuel is predeceased by his wife Hilda, who died in 2009, and siblings Alice, Emily, Alexandria, Carmelo, and Consuelo.
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 10-11 am at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Ave., Middletown N.Y. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Middletown, NY.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made in Manuel’s name to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate .
