Mamie “Mae” L. Gulotta

Middletown, NY

Mamie L Gulotta of Middletown, died on Wednesday November 2 at home. surrounded by her loving family. She was 82.

The daughter of the late Nicholas and Nancy Pellegriti Branchina she was born on June 22, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY. On Nov. 5, 1950, she married her loving husband, Vito. They lived in Brooklyn where they owned a florist until they relocated to Orange County, where she originally grew up.

Mamie worked for Orange County Dept. of Social Services in Goshen until her retirement over 20 years ago.

She was a strong willed lady her entire life. Family was the most important thing for Mae. She believed that family should be together and support each other and she worked hard to help that happen for the people in her life. She worried about everyone around her and wanted things to be perfect for them.

She is survived by her daughters, Jenny Hansen and her husband Steven and Nancy Rutkowski and her husband Kevin, all of Middletown; her brother Nicholas Branchina and his wife Barbara of Kennebunk, ME; two grandchildren, Daniel Hansen and his wife Denise of Bloomingburg and Erica Hansen and her partner Carrie Cerjan of Wallkill; three great-grandchildren, Brittany Rose, Deanna Athena and Abigail Mae; and her faithful cat, Queenie.

Mae was predeceased by her husband Vito and one grandson, Michael Alan Rutkowski.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 from 3 to 7 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Ave, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday,November 6 at 11 am, Rev. Ron Lee will officiate. Entombment will be held privately at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Middle Hope.

The family would like to thank Drs Dinsmore and Fruchter and their staffs for the wonderful care they provided Mae during her illness. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550. Funeral arrangements under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home.
