Madeleine Rose Fiske Tintle

Madeleine Rose Fiske Tintle, age 97, entered into rest on October 24, 2017 at the Valley View Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Goshen, NY, resided for seven years.
She was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 25, 1919, the daughter of Dr. Edwin Fiske, M.D. and Madeleine Downing. She was the widow of Joseph Leary and John Tintle.
Madeleine was one of the first women to receive USTA license as a trainer of standard bred horses. She had a successful career for over 40 years racing at Monticello, Saratoga and Liberty Bell, PA. Her best horse was Shadydale Air Raid.
Madeleine was a strong, independent, intelligent woman who worked hard and overcame many difficulties and losses. The Matriarch of her family, she was a role model-she travelled extensively in later years-she was an avid reader. For many years, she was a Eucharistic minister at St. Albert’s Chapel at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Kathleen Leary McNally; son, Patrick Leary; sisters, Sr. Adel Fiske RHSJ and Elaine Price; in addition to her husband and parents.
Madeleine is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lucy Leary and husband John O’Connor; grandchildren, Bill Leary and his wife Deirdre, Michael Leary and his wife Carla, Jennifer Leary and Tom Buck, Bill McNally and Dan McNally; her great-grandchildren, Marley, Riley, Lauren, Liam, Maygen, Matthew, Brendan, Kelly and great-great-granddaughter Alanna.
Many, many thanks to the wonderful staff on Glenmere Ground, who compassionately took great care of “Maddy” over the last several years.
There will be a celebration of her life at St. Albert’s Chapel at OLMC Shrine on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 10 am.
