Lucille Kallas, a retired health care worker and longtime Middletown resident. Died after a long illness at Middletown Park Manor on July11, 2021. She was 93.
The daughter of Louis B. and Rosie Mae Devore Kallas, she was born in Corning, N.Y. along with a twin sister on October 1,1927.Lucille graduated from Orange County Community College and worked at the Middletown Psychiatric Hospital for many years. An active and dedicated member of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, she served both her Lord and her Church as a Steward. She was recognized by Holy Cross for her work as a parish council member, fundraiser, volunteer in the prison ministry and many other duties at the church.  Lucille was proud of her Greek heritage and was involved in the many events and traditions associated with her faith. Although she served in so many capacities at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, she always remained humble in all of her accomplishments. She was colorful, strong-willed, loyal and always willing to be of assistance to someone in need.Â
While Lucille didn’t leave any relatives to survive her; the many friends she made from her presence at church will always remember and miss her special and unique personality. She is predeceased by her parents and her twin sister, Louise Martha Kallas.
There will be no visitation. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 21, 2021,at 10 am at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 2250 Goshen Tnpk. Middletown, N.Y. with the Rev. Father Chris Talleos officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Wallkill Cemetery.
