Luciano “Lou” A. Altieri
Luciano Altieri, 88, of Scotchtown, New York passed away peacefully on July 15, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Luciano was a beacon of love, kindness, admired and cherished by all who knew him.
Born on October 18, 1935 in Bretto, Provenzia of Gorizia Italy. Luciano grew up with a passion for knowledge. He left his home in Foggia, Italy at the age of 19 on a quest to start a new life in the United States of America. New York is where he landed in 1955 and created a beautiful life.
He served in The United States Army from 1958-1960. He went on to attend the Academy of Aeronautics, The School of Visual Arts and Pratt Institute. He worked for many years as a Draftsmen, Systems Engineer and a Graphic Artist for Western Union and AT&T.
Luciano was an incredible artist who loved to paint, build model airplanes and singing Italian music. He was an intelligent man who loved life and every minute spent with his family.
Luciano was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is predeceased by his parents Giuseppina and Mario Altieri, his brother Victorio, sister Rosa and his beloved son Louis.
He is survived by his beautiful and loving wife of 62 years Camille, his daughter Laura, his three grandchildren Camrine, Kailee and Kyle Howell who were his pride and joy. His brothers Antonio, Salvatore, and Claudio Altieri. His sisters Pia Conte and Diana Coscia and many nieces and nephews.
Luciano’s life was a testament to the power of love, strength and dedication. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A celebration of Luciano’s life will be held at Applebee and Mcphillips Funeral home. Visitation will be on July 18, 2024 from 4pm-7pm. A Funeral Mass will take place on July 19, 2024 at 9:30am at St. Joseph’s church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940. Entombement will follow in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to all the nurses, aides and staff at Middletown Park Manor for the compassionate care they provided to Luciano.
