Louis G. Ireland of Budd Lake, N.J., formerly of Montgomery, NY, entered into rest on Friday, February 24, 2017. He was born on December 21, 1965 in Middletown, NY.
Lou graduated from Valley Central High School in Montgomery, NY. He attended SUNY Brockport in Rochester, NY and later earned his degree in finance at Morris CCC, NJ. He was currently employed as a sales consultant at Performance Ford in Randolph, NJ.
Lou was an avid sports fan. He loved baseball. From the time he played little league he was a NY Yankee fan. He enjoyed stock car and NASCAR racing. You could find him at Orange County Fair Speedway cheering for his favorite drivers. He traveled to many tracks in the East to NASCAR races, his favorite being the Daytona 500.
Lou had a passion for golf. At a young age he was introduced to the game as a caddy and quickly became fascinated by the sport. He joined his high school golf team and served as Captain. During summers he participated in the Hudson Valley Junior team Match Series and was fortunate enough to play most of the golf courses in Orange County. He won the Junior Championship at Stony Ford Golf Course, and captured the NYS Junior Championship. He even had a hole in one at the age of 17.
Surviving are his loving daughters, Lindsay Kathryn of Madison, NJ and Julia Elizabeth at home with her mother Kim of Mt. Arlington, NJ; his mother, Louise Biasi and her husband Joseph of Middletown; and his father Gary Ireland of Swanville, ME; stepbrother, John Biasi and his wife Lydia and their children, Joseph, Sam, and Elena of Groton, MA, and stepsister, Tiarose and her husband Dan and their children, Milo and Desmond of Jersey City, NJ; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
He was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Veronica and Louis Petrillo of Middletown and paternal grandparents Kathleen and George Irwin Ireland of Lincoln, ME.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 4 to 7 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Montgomery, NY. Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. www.applebee-mcphillips.com
