Louis C. Depew, a life long resident of the area, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018 at Highland Rehab in Middletown. He was 86 years old.
The son of Cortland Joseph and Edna Myers Depew, Lou was born on July 24, 1931 in Middletown, NY. He proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War. Lou retired after 42 years of service as a gas foreman for Orange and Rockland Utilities. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in New Vernon, NY. He also was a member of Howells Volunteer Fire Company for 61 years, was a member of IBEW, the Middletown Elks Lodge #1097 and the American Legion Post 151. He volunteered with the Webb Horton Boy Scouts for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Sharon Joslyn Depew; his son Louis E. Depew and his wife Victoria of Howells, and his grandson, Cameron M. Depew. He is also survived by his brothers, Joseph Depew, and Robert Depew and his wife Nancy; sister Catherine Mitton and her husband Rodney; sister in law Jane Depew; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Raymond and his wife Evelyn, James and his wife Eleanor and Thomas Depew and sister Bertha Green and her husband Louis and sister-in-law Ruth Depew.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Wallkill Senior Center 7-9 Wes Warren Drive, Middletown, NY 10941.
