Loretta Weiss Ptak, a longtime Middletown resident, died following a short illness on Monday, October 18, 2016 surrounded by her loving family at the home of her son in Tampa, FL. She was 90.
The daughter of the late Roscoe and Estella Katkowski Weiss, she was born on August 27, 1926 in Ardmore, PA. Loretta married Walter Joseph Ptak, Sr. on October 11, 1947 and they celebrated 63 years of marriage together before his death on October 6, 2011. Loretta was referred to as “Nanny” by her family and grandchildren. She had a wonderful heart and wanted nothing but happiness for her entire family.
Loretta is survived by her one daughter Patricia La Manna and her husband Felice of Homasassa, Fl and three sons, Robert and his wife Mary of Marlboro, MA, Raymond and his wife Peggy of Middletown,NY and William of Tampa, FL. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Walter, she was predeceased by one son, Walter J. Ptak, Jr. in 1970 and one grandson, Cory Ryan Ptak in 2016.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 pm on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Roman Church, Middletown, NY 10940 on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. John’s Cemetery in Goshen, NY.
