Montgomery, NY

Linnie Rush , 80, of Montgomery, NY, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Florida. She was born on March 22, 1934 in Rygate, VT to Dick and Flossie Welch.

She graduated from High School in Groton, VT. Despite her short stature, she was a member of the Groton High School basketball team. She then trained to become a nurse at New England Memorial Sanitarium and Hospital in Stoneham, MA, she graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1956. Taking full advantage of her nurse’s training, she worked for many years at Horton Hospital in Middletown, NY. She married Robert J. Rush in September 1956 and moved with him to Montgomery, NY where she lived until the last few months of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a long time member of the Middletown SDA Church. She was very active in the church holding several different offices. She especially loved working with the children’s ministries. She taught children’s Sabbath School for close to 50 years. She also loved to help at Middletown Christian School. She enjoyed helping with the hot lunch program and teaching preschool/kindergarten at the Middletown Christian School in her retirement.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert J. Rush and her son Richard J. Rush..

She is survived by her sons Robert J. Rush of Montgomery, NY and Jonathan D. Rush of Thompson Ridge, NY and her daughter, Linnie N. Rush LeBrun and her husband Glenn of Apopka, FL, six grandchildren: Linnie K. Garcia, Katrina Vargas Mesa, Dorothy Mott, Jayme Rush, Jonathan Rush, Jr. and Rebekah Rush; five great-grandchildren, Christian, Linnie O., and Isabella Garcia, and Pearl and Marline Mott plus many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 pm on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Seventh day Adventist Church, 70 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Funeral Service will be held at the same location on Monday, December 22, 2014 at 10 am. Burial will immediately follow at the North Hardyston Cemetery in Hamburg, NJ. Pastor Victor Dyman will officate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Linnie’s name may be made to the Middletown Christian School, 70 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940.
