Linden “Butch” M. Decker, Jr.

April 22, 1936-March 13, 2013

Middletown, NY

Butch was a lifelong resident of Middletown, he passed away at home with his wife Joan, daughter Tammy and son Chris by his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 76 years old.

The son of the late Linden M. Decker Sr and the late Helen Nelson Paquin, he was born on April 22, 1936 in Middletown. He was a veteran of the US Navy. Butch retired from the Middletown Psychiatric Center after 33 years. He was a member of the Middletown B.P.O.E. # 1097, American Legion, CSEA, Oak Ridge Rod and Gun and a life member of Shawangunk Fish and Game.

Survivors include his devoted wife Joan, his daughter, Tammy Haag and her husband Jimmy; sons, John Decker, Chris Decker, Scott Decker and his wife Jeanine and daughter Anita Dayton; 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and aunt.

Butch loved hunting, fishing and Nascar racing, especially when he was with his many friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, one brother George Decker, as well as aunts and uncles.

Visitation hours are from 7 to 9 pm on Monday, March 18, 2013 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. An Elks service will be held at 7:15 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 11 am on Wednesday, Rev. Matt Johnstone will officiate. Burial with Military honors will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery in Goshen.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12250. Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
