Leona Scarzafava, a lifetime resident of Middletown, died on Saturday April 10 at Middletown Park Manor Middletown, with her family by her side. She was 96.
The daughter of the late Amos Decker and Annetta Babcock Decker, she was born on August 4, 1913 in Chester, NY. She was the widow of Dominick Scarzafava, who predeceased her on September 21, 1982.
Leona is survived by her sons, Dominick and his wife Suzanne and Eugene and his wife Annette, all of Middletown; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Scarzafava; and her 15 beloved grandchildren; Michael and his wife Suzanne Sacarzafava, Darryl, Dominique, Dominick, Geno, Keith and his wife Kim Scarzafava, Kevin and his wife Renee Scarzafava, Michelle and her husband John Muller, Celeste, Peter Hamblin and his wife Joyce, Leann and her husband Nick Pupo, Tina, Arlene and Scott and nine great-grandchildren, Ryan, Alyssa, Gabriella, Gianna, Morgan, Matthew, Salvatore, Tyler and Lauren.
In addition to her husband, Leona was predeceased by her son Vincent and all of her siblings; Charles, Percy, Alfred, Jesse, Ruth, and Lillian.
Cremation was private at Cedar Hill Crematory. A Graveside Service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown.
