Obituary for Lea Applebee
Lea Applebee, a lifetime resident of the Middletown area and talented clinical dental technician, died after a long illness at home on February 13, 2021. She was 73.
The daughter of LeRoy and Paula Owen Applebee, she was born in Middletown on August 13, 1947.
She grew up in her family’s funeral home and graduated from Middletown High School in 1969 .She attended their class reunions, always enjoying the comradery of her classmates. She was an artistic person with a flair for drawing and painting. Her talents led her to a position as a dental assistant and eventually Lea designed and created dentures, making a business to support herself and making smiles for clients that would make their health and lives better. To say nothing of how great they looked when they smiled!
Lea biked and hiked locally and loved the opportunity to be outside. She was a friend to animals, especially her Sharpei dogs. She was a caring and thoughtful woman who will be missed by all who knew her.
Lea is survived by her husband, Thomas Farrell at home, her sister, Faye Applebee O’Neil of Florida and many friends.
She is predeceased by her parents, her husband Bruce Berquist, stepmom, Helen Applebee and sister, June Applebee and stepbrother, Thomas Burke.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday February 23 from 6 to 8 pm at the Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. Guests must wear facial coverings and socially distance while at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
