Lawrence J. Buckley, Sr. of Middletown NY, died on Thursday June 28 at his home. He was 76.
The son of the late Raymond and Velma Roberts Buckley he was born on August 17, 1935 in Saranac, NY. He married Mary Attigliato, and served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1963. Lawrence worked for many years for NYS OMRDD at Letchworth Village in Rockland County.
He was a wonderful husband and father who will be remembered as a devoted family man. Lawrence is survived by his loving wife, Mary, at home; three sons: Lawrence and his wife, Doreen of Middletown, Gerald Buckley of Middletown, and James and his wife, Michelle of Gloversville; nine grandchildren: Jenel Duarte, Alyssa, Amanda, Lawrence, James Jr., Corey, Nicole, Angela, and Stephanie Buckley and one great granddaughter, Sophia Duarte. Besides his parents, Lawrence was predeceased by his brother, Raymond and sister-in-law Della Buckley and his brother-in-law, Leeward Frenyea.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 626 South Centerville Road in Middletown; Fr. Robert Porpora will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Rd., Goshen, NY 10924.
