Obituary for Lawrence D. Post
On September 7, 1930, Lawrence D. Post was born in Middletown,NY
Larry grew up in Ridgebury where everyone knew and cared about him. He was one of five children and his personality and friendliness brought many blessings in his life.
He graduated from MHS in 1949 and entered career in farming. He married Nancy Hartwig on September 7, 1952 in Matamoras,PA and together they raised 7 children and celebrated 64 years of marriage this year.
Larry was a spiritual man who found nature beautiful, relished time with his family and friends (especially his grand) and was an ardent animal lover. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, traveling on cruises,visiting European countries and fishing whenever and wherever he could.There was always a pole in the truck.
He served the Town of Wawayanda both as a councilman and as Tax assessor and was an honorary member of Slate Hill Fire Dept. Larry was a lifetime member of the Elks BPOE #1097 and was a member of The church at Ridgebury.
In addition to his loving wife Nancy at home; he is survived by his four sons, Kevin and his wife Rebecca of Buckeye, AZ, Daniel and his wife Donna , D. Jay and his significant other Diane Morgan and Larry Jr and his wife Dierdre, all of Ridgebury and his two daughters, Suzanne Post of Port Jervis and Jennifer Troin and her husband James of Ellenville. He is also survived by his 13 grandchildren; Daniel, Brianna, Gavin, Bailey, Carly Anne, Connor, Blake, Colton, Reese, Meghan, Jacqueline, and Ashley Post and Evan and Ethan Troin.
Larry was predeceased by one daughter, Jill; and one bother Alfred and three sisters, Charlotte Post, Helen Muench, and Catharine Beuerman.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday, December 15 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am on Friday,December 16 at The Church at Ridgebury. Burial will follow in the family plot in Ridgebury Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Larry's name may be made to either the Church at Ridgebury 671 Ridgebury Rd, Slate Hill, NY 10973 or Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
