Kevin Sweeney, a lifetime resident of Middletown, died at home on Sunday November 7 surrounded by his loving family. He was 24.
The son of James and Betty Jo Weissert Sweeney, Jr., he was born on July 22, 1986 in Middletown, NY.
Kevin was a Dean's List student at SUNY Old Westbury and would have been a senior upon his return. He enjoyed golf and running. He had completed the New York City Marathon in 2008 and ran Middletown's Orange Classics, Ruthie Dino and Run 4 Downtown races. He was always independent- doing the things he liked to do like skydiving and meeting with his many friends. He will be missed by his family and all the friends he made. We love you Kev!
He is survived by his loving family; his parents Jim and Betty Jo; his brother Kenneth J. Sweeney and his girlfriend Amie LaPointe; his paternal grandparents, Mae and James Sweeney, Sr. and Maternal grandparents, Grace and Joseph Weissert, all of Middletown; uncles, Ed Sweeney and his wife Rose of Port Jervis, and Mike Sweeney of Middletown; aunts, Pat Sweeney of Ward, CO, Millie Sweeney of Port Jervis, JoAnne Lust and her husband Chuck of Westtown, and Julie Patterson and her husband Gerard of Methuen, MA; and his many beloved friends, including Max the family dog.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A
A Funeral Service in Remembrance will take place at 11am on Thursday, Nov. 11th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
Kevin's family wishes to thank Dr. Dinsmore and his wonderful nurses, Dr. Karen Seiter, the nurses of the Tucker Center at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus and Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
