Kevin F Sheamon, a longtime resident of Orange County, passed away on Monday, January 16th at Westchester Medical Center. He was 65 years old.
The son of the late Francis and Leanora (Murphy) Sheamon, Kevin was born September 5th, 1957 in Yonkers. He was raised in New City, graduating from Clarkstown South High School in 1975. He obtained his Bachelor’s and MBA degrees from Pace University in Pleasantville, meeting some of his closest and lifelong friends in his years there. He began his career in accounting working with the Shubert Organization on Broadway, making memories and connections he spoke about frequently and fondly.
An ardent wordsmith, Kevin found a great catharsis in writing, whether it be articles for his college newspaper, unpublished novels, or opinion pieces – which he never shied away from sharing.
A hockey player in his youth, Kevin was an avid sports fan. He could recall statistics better than most major league organizations. He had a particular devotion to his beloved NY Mets and Toronto Maple Leafs.
In addition to his loving parents, Kevin was predeceased by his uncle, Robert Sheamon, and aunt, Patricia Barrett.
Kevin is survived by his two children – the lights of his life – Kevin Michael & fiancé Pamela Bauer of Goshen, and Kimberly of Middletown as well as their mother, his former wife of 24 years, Patricia DeMartini. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Leanora Lindsay & husband Stephen of Westtown; his nephew, Jason Lindsay of Pottstown PA; and his cousin Kerri Garipoli & husband Giancarlo of Westchester.
Visitation will be Friday, January 20th from 4-7pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, 130 Highland Ave, Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, January 21st at 11am at the Church of St. Joseph, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
