Obituary for Kenneth Lopez, Sr.
Kenneth Lopez, Sr., a lifetime resident of New York and most recently the last 29 years in Middletown, died unexpectedly on January 13th, 2021 at Garnet Health Center in Middletown. He was 76.
The son of the late Andres and Rose Lopez, Ken was born on December 5, 1944 in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from the New York High School of Printing in 1962, Ken began a career in haberdashery until 1981, when he became a New York City Transit bus driver. On October 26th, 1963, he married his teenage sweetheart, Virginia I. Andujar from Queens, NY and they shared 57 years of marriage together. In 1969 they moved to the Bronx where they remained until 1992 when they moved to Middletown. He was a hard worker with good ethics and retired in 2007. He was quiet, humble, peaceful and private. Ken stayed within small social circles, mostly filled with family and friends from Family Church in Middletown, NY, where he served in the Children's Ministry with his wife. He was a God fearing Christian who lived by biblical principles. He was a devoted, committed and loving husband and a supportive and available Dad.
In addition to his loving wife Virginia, affectionately known to all as Ginnie; he is survived by his son, Kenneth Lopez, Jr. and his wife Judith of Middletown, NY, his daughter Noelle D. Hunter and her husband Richard of Jacksonville, FL and his daughter Kelly S. Lopez of Middletown; his six grandchildren, Chelsea Leigh Lopez, Kenneth Shane Lopez, Brandon J. Crespo, Ryan K. Crespo, Christian K. Lopez, and Raymond Zayas Jr; his two great-grandchildren Noah Crespo & Alessi W. Crespo. He is also survived by his brother David Ramos of Tampa, FL, and his sister Catherine Cameron of Wilmington, NC. As well as many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 10 am to 12 pm at Family Church, 510 M & M Road, Middletown, NY 10940. The Service will be held at 12 pm at the Church on Thursday and burial will follow in the family plot in Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery, Bloomingburg, NY.
