KENNETH ABRAHAM LANDIN, JR.

June 9, 1944 - September 8, 2013

Middletown, NY

Kenneth Abraham Landin, Jr., formerly of Staten Island and recently of Monrovia, Liberia, died unexpectedly on September 8, 2013 in Boystown Community in Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa. He was 69.

The son of the late Anna Mae Tuller and Kenneth Landin, Sr., he was born on June 9, 1944 in Sandy Ground, Staten Island, NY. Kenneth was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He will be remembered as a dynamic and motivated man who believed deeply in his convictions and aspirations. He was a warm and loving father, grandfather and friend who had the ability to make a difference in his surroundings. He died trying to fulfill his dreams of building an economic system in Liberia, changing the situation of poverty.

Kenneth Abraham is survived by his children: Trussie Abdullah Warner and his wife, Brandi of Freeport, IL; Erica Hunter of Connecticut, Tenise Wilkins of North Carolina, Alaya Davis of Albany, Kenneth Ferara and his fiancee, Kim of Middletown, and Elisha Ferara and her companion, Terrance of Middletown.He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends all over the world. He was predeceased by his brothers: Vernon, Norman, Ronald and Warren Landin, as well as his parents.

Visitation hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 17th, and from 12 to 1 p.m. on Friday, October 18th, at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery in Middletown.

Memorial contributions may be made to Patricia Ferara at: P.O. Box 153, New Hampton, NY 10958 to help defray the costs of bringing Kenneth back to the United States from West Africa for his funeral services.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Leonard Kragness, an American living in Liberia, who made it his mission to bring Kenneth Abraham's body back to America and his family for his funeral services.Without Leonard's work, Kenneth's final arrangements would not have been possible. They are thankful for Leonard's help during this difficult time.
