Obituary for Kathleen Davis-Ketchum
Kathleen Davis-Ketchum, born Kathleen Ann Deveikis, of Middletown, NY, formerly Clifton, NJ, passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020. She was 70 years old.
The daughter of the late John and Mary Davis, she was born in Elizabeth NJ, on February 5, 1950. She was the youngest of two children. Kathleen and her older brother John always shared a close bond and spent most of their youth with Kathy following his every move, climbing trees and riding her horse.
Kathy met her third husband, her love, Frank Ketchum, after relocating to Middletown in 1991. The two married in 1996 and lived happily until he passed shortly after in 1997.
She was a caretaker by nature. Through her life, she took care of her parents, grandmother, uncle, her older brother, and any other family member who needed aid as long as she could, as she herself developed Multiple Sclerosis before age 25.
Kathy not only took care of her own family, but any of her children’s friends that needed help or a safe place to stay. She was an avid animal lover, looking after any animal that came to her door, or wandered the neighborhood. No matter what type of critter it was, if it needed help, she “just could not say no”.
She was not only a caretaker, but a fighter. Kathy battled Multiple Sclerosis and dementia as well as two bouts with breast cancer through her life but didn’t let it ruin her attitude. She is described as a kind, selfless woman who felt compelled to help others; whether that be family, friend, or animal.
She is survived by her daughters, Carrie and Kimberly Rodriguez-Nadal, half-children Michelle, E.J. and Paul Rodriguez, beloved Granddaughter, Emily Catherine Palm, as well as numerous other half grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her husband Frank, parents, and brother Johnny.
The family of Kathleen would like to thank Hudson Valley Rehab and Extended Care of Highland NY for their exceptional care over the past decade, their kindness and compassion did not go unnoticed.
As per Kathleen’s wishes, no services will be held. She always wished for everyone have a drink, laugh about good times and listen to good music instead. Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the National M.S. Society, www.nationalmssociety.org, or any A.S.P.C.A. of your choice.
For anyone in need of something tangible, please contact the family for a prayer card in her memory.
