Kathleen A. Berdecia of Bloomingburg, died on Friday January 1 at home following an courageous battle with cancer. She was 60.
The daughter of the late Ruth Oliver and Walter Ross, Kathleen was born on November 9, 1949 in the Bronx. She graduated from Mother Cabrini High School in the Bronx, and after marrying Ralph Berdecia and raising her children, she received her Associates' degree from Orange County Community College in Middletown.
Over the years, Kathleen held many jobs in addition to her very important role as a homemaker, she worked for Shoprite in Middletown, IBM and most recently as a Computer Support Specialist at Time Warner Cable in Middletown.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband, Ralph; three sons, John and his wife Tiffany, Christopher and Michael and his wife Joyce, and her daughter Carolann Albrektsen and her husband Glenn. She is also survived by her siblings, Dr. Michael T. Ross and his wife Kathy, Patricia DeRosa and her husband Ralph and Donna Santora and her husband John; five beloved grandchildren, Dominick, Jessica, Antonio, Connor and Kaitlin; many nieces and nephews and close friends Carol and Frank Angelo.
Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Monday, January 4, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home,
Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Following cremation, burial will take place in New Prospect Cemetery in Pine Bush, NY.
