Karen Sue Griswold
Bloomingburg, N.Y.
Karen Sue Griswold, a longtime resident of Bloomingburg and devoted wife, mom and grandparent, passed away peacefully at Garnet Medical Center on June 16, 2022 after a courageous 12 year battle with cancer. She was 58.
The daughter of Marion and Roberta Pikel Findley, she was born in Quarryville Pa. in the heart of the Amish country on July 5, 1963. Karen was a loyal, humble and modest woman who always gave one hundred percent to whatever task she was working on. She married her best friend , Charles L. Griswold in 2011 and together they raised three awesome sons and many other kids that brought them many wonderful times
and memories.
Karen worked for Agway in her younger teen years, then after marriage was a ‘stay at home mom and later enrolled in classes to become a Teaching Assistant, working at the Pakanasink Elementary School until her Retirment in 2012 to battle her cancer diagnosis. One of her interests was Fire Service that she shared with Charlie, eventually becoming the president of the Bloomingburg Ladies Auxiliary. She was always committed and responsible to whatever she did. This was especially true in how she cared for her family . friends , and colleagues in school, church and fire service. She will be greatly missed.
Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Charles, at home, her mom, Roberta Finley, cherished sons, Andrew, Brian and Matthew Shaw, daughters-in-law, Amanda Shaw, Rebecca Shaw and Brittney Shaw; loving grandchildren; Warren, Patrick. Abigail, Brian, William, many nieces and nephews ; her mother in law, and Audrey Griswold. Her adopted’ children, Mary, Brendan, Kevin, Sobihan, Dierdre, her best friend since 2nd grade, Paula Cronin and Kaitlyn Downing She was predeceased by her father at age 48 and her father-in-law Ralph Griswold.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 21st, from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the funeral home. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will take place on Wednesday, June 22nd at 11 am at the funeral home with the Reverend Ernie Mossl officiating. Immediately following the service, burial with Fire Matic Honors will be held at the Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery .
