Karen Elizabeth Hetcher of Wurtsboro NY, died on Thursday April 5 at St. Teresa's Nursing Home Middletown, NY. She was 67.
The daughter of the late Alexander and Dorothy Rion Bertram, Karen was born on March 29, 1945 in Yonkers, NY. Karen married Michael Hetcher on April 25, 1964 in Yonkers. They moved to the area in 1984. She worked as a receptionist for Hudson Valley Pediatrics in Middletown. She will be remembered as independent. She was kind, loving, and courageous. During her illness, she fought the good fight and never complained.
She is survived by her loving husband, Michael of 47 years at home, children, Michael Hetcher, Jr of Kerhonkson, Gregory Hetcher of Wurtsboro and Debra McClay of Hopewell Junction; her brothers, Allan and Robert Bertram of N.Y., and sister, Kathy Hettinger and her husband Henry of Hopewell Junction. Karen is also survived by her grandchildren, Kyle, Cory, Jonathan, Kacey and Nicole as well as several other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and William and sister, Nancy.
Visitation hours will be from 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY, 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 8:30 pm at the funeral home on Tuesday evening.
Cremation will be private.
