Yurgen (Jurgen) Kurt Brewer, affectionately known as Kurt to many of his friends, died after a long illness at home in the care of his family on October 2, 2021. He was 80 years old and a well known photographer in the Hudson Valley and lifetime resident of Middletown.
Born in Berlin, Germany on August 16, 1941 to his parents, Kurt Schoernhoff and Otti Sallein , he was their only child and immigrated to the United States at the age of 10.
After graduating from MHS Class of 1960 , he enlisted and served in the US Army. Kurt married his soulmate, Joyce Barrett in 1978 at the Denton Presbyterian Church in New Hampton and they celebrated 43 years of marriage.
Kurt was a wedding photographer and used his talents to provide a good living for his family. He created many memories for his clients with his skills as a photographer. Owning his own business (Kurt’s Foto), he was a hard worker and self-starter who used his leisure time to appreciate technology and computers, 50’s music, Astronomy, and vacations with the family.
He is survived by his devoted and loving family; his wife Joyce, and their three children Erika Caban of Middletown, Jurgen and his wife Nichole of Middletown, Cynthia Valdiosera and her husband Octavio of California as well as four cherished grandchildren; Ezra, Annika, Brianna and Tavito .
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
