Obituary for Julie Lynn DeWitt
On June 1, 2021, the enormous heart that belonged to Julie Lynn DeWitt beat for the last time, forever changing the lives of all who knew and loved her. She was 38 years old.
The daughter of George DeWitt Jr. and Kathleen Knapp Bertholf, Julie was born on February 4, 1983 in Houston, Texas. Julie attended schools in Pine Bush and Middletown and graduated from Goshen High School. Julie befriended everyone and always went for the underdog. She loved hard and enjoyed being with her family and friends all the time. In 2019, she gave birth to the greatest joy of her life, Naliyah Ubides who she cherished.
In addition to her mother Kathi at home and her father George DeWitt Jr, and his wife Cheryl, Julie is survived by a host of relatives; her siblings, Damian DeWitt and his wife Jessica, Shanelle DeWitt, Miles Bertholf, Caressa Bertholf and Stacey Bertholf; her nieces and nephews, Talia Gonzalez, Destiny DeWitt, Ja Cory Fields, Alexandra DeWitt, Amarah Caldwell, Kenyon Caldwell and Bryson DeWitt. She is also survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins and much loved friends.
She was predeceased by her stepfather, Gordon Bertholf, who raised and loved her like she was his own.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, June 4, 2021 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 7 pm on Friday evening, cremation will be private. Following cremation, burial will take place in the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery.
