Juan “John” Sanchez of Middletown, died on Saturday May 29 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus in Middletown. He was 74.

The son of the late Julio and the late Maria Ayala Sanchez he was born on May 1, 1936 in Juncos, Puerto Rico.Juan served in the National Guard in Puerto Rico before he moved to New York. He married Juanita Figueroa on August 6, 1960 in the Bronx and they shared nearly 50 happy years together.

John worked for Ford Motor Co. in Mahwah, NJ and after retiring from Ford; he worked for RSR in Middletown for 20 years. Along with his wife, he was a member of St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

A very special and hard working man, he spent his life providing for those he loved and generously offered his home to his entire family. Many of his children and grandchildren were fortunate enough to share his home with him over the years. He made all feel welcome and he took great care of them all.

John is survived by his loving wife, Juanita at home; three daughters, Linda Sanchez and her husband Miguel Jiminez, Laura Sanchez and her husband Scott Hampshire and Debra Sanchez and her husband Hector Camancho; one brother, Wilfredo Sanchez and his wife Isabella; one sister, Diane Sanchez. He is also survived by his many beloved grandchildren,;Jennifer, Christina, Sarah, Deanna, Abel, Brittany and Jonathan; one great- grandchild, Elijah; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.,130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on June 3 at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY.
