Joshua Patrick Sullivan of Middletown NY died on Wednesday March 2 at ORMC Horton Campus. He was 21.
The son of Brendan and the late Patricia Famularo Sullivan he was born on September 27, 1989 in Passaic, NJ.
Josh had a heart transplant 11 years ago and never stopped giving back to his family and community. He was a dedicated volunteer for the Town of Wallkill Ambulance Corp. and spent most of his spare time taking care of others in need. He will be deeply missed by his family and by the entire community at large.
We are grateful to his colleagues the EMT’s at Town of Wallkill who became more like family than friends.
A graduate of Pine Bush High School, Josh was working for Occupations, Inc. and Port Jervis Ambulance Corps. His volunteerism spanned many areas- from emergency services to counseling Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Wallkill and the YMCA in Middletown.
Joshua is survived by his loving parents, father Brendan and his wife Tamara Knoll Sullivan, brother Shane, at home; step brother Jeremy VanDerMeulen of PA, sister Jillian at home, and step sister Heidi VanDerMeulen of Utica, maternal grandparents Henry and Patricia Famularo of Whiting, NJ he is also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation hours are on Saturday, March 5, 7-PM and Sunday March 6, from 2-4 and 7-9PM at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Ave. Middletown, NY 10940. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Monday March 7, at St. Josephs R.C. Church 149 Cottage St. Middletown. Burial will follow in the family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery,340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, NJ, 07031.
