Obituary for Joseph Wancho
Joseph Wancho a 43 year area resident entered into rest on Sunday March 14, 2021 at the Health Center in Bloomingdale, New Jersey.
The son of Joseph and Marjorie Wancho, he was born in Wilkes Barre Pa. Joseph graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Bristol Pa. He then served in the Army from late 1967 to 1969 in the Vietnam War where he received prestigious medals of accommodations. Joseph then settled in Middletown NY with his family where he retired after 30+ years at Chester Cable.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Diane of Middletown. His three daughters, Patricia Wancho of Sequin TX, Cheryl Dupee (husband Stephen) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Christine Wancho of Middletown NY. Five Grandchildren- Desirea Tenpenny (Patricia), Tyler Dupee, Maria Tenpenny(Patricia), Gabriella Carambot(Christine), and Kaitlyn Tenpenny (Patricia). Four Great-Grandchilden- Ava & Lazarus (Desirea), Alaina (Maria), Jayden (Kaitlyn). Plenty of nieces & nephews.
Joseph was predeceased by both his parents, one brother Fredrick Wancho, sister Bonnie Leggio and one granddaughter Isabella.
He loved to Fish, Golf and a few trips to the Casino. He reunited with a few of his Army comrades in Michigan and Las Vegas where they shared stories and DVD’s of their time together while they served. He loved hearing stories and seeing pictures of his grand-children and great grand-children.
Services will be held Saturday March 27, 2021, 12pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church 391 Mt. Hope Rd. Middletown, NY 10940. COVID Restrictions will apply. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in Joseph's memory may be made to St. John’s church and mail to 391 Mt. Hope Rd. Middletown NY, 10940.
