Obituary for Joseph John Duczeminski, Sr.
Joseph John Duczeminski, Sr., of Cuddebackville, died on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Bon Secours Hospital in Port Jervis. He was 89.

The son of the late Ursula and John Duczeminski, he was born on June 20, 1922 in Middletown. Joseph graduated from St. Joseph’s School and Middletown High School. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was blessed to have spent 63 years of marriage to Kathryn Weaver Duczeminski, "the love of his life".

Joe was an avid fisherman and hunter; a member of both the Otisville Sportsman Club and Shawangunk Fish and Game Association. He was also a talented and active gardener and a creative handyman. A true New Yorker, Joe was a dedicated fan of the Mets, Islanders and the N.Y. Giants. He retired from Middletown Psychiatric Center.

In addition to his loving wife, Kathryn at home; Joe is survived by his sons, Joseph J. Duczeminski, Jr and his wife Clara of Slate Hill, Michael T. and his wife Beth of Cochecton, NY, Stanley R. of Cuddebackville; and daughters Kathy Hoard and her husband Michael and Lisa Anne Duczeminski of Middletown; his grandchildren, Jennifer Higby, Stacey Vendy, Heather Duczeminski, Danielle Dwyer, Katie Jane Caggiano, two step grandsons, Sean and Brian Printy; nine great-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Nellie McClurg of Middletown and Ursula Brown of Goshen and brother, John Duczeminski of Middletown. He was predeceased by his two sisters, Amelia Myruski Hyndman and Catherine "Kosia" Duczeminski.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Friday, March 30 at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY. Burial with Military honors will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

Joseph's family would like to thank the nursing staff in the I.C.U. at Bon Secours Hospital for the excellent care they provided during his recent illness.
