Joseph J. Kelly, a retired electrical engineer, died on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Orange Regional Medical center. He was 75.

The son of the late Joseph F. and Delia McDonnell Kelly, he was born on March 5, 1939 in New York City. Joe proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Intrepid and was a member of the VFW in Otisville. He married Dorothy M. Sydor on June 22, 1963 in Lyndhurst, NJ and they shared 51 years of marriage together. Joe moved with his family to the Mt. Hope area 29 years ago from New Jersey. He will be remembered by everyone for his quiet, gentle unassuming nature. Everyone loved him and will be shocked at the suddenness of his death.

In addition to his loving wife, Dorothy and his daughter, Maureen Gomeringer and her husband William of Durham, NC; two sisters, Anna May Painter and her husband Phil of Lancaster, PA and Patricia Kelly of Port St. Lucie, FL; a brother-in-law, Carl Nelson and his grandchildren, Lucian and Liam. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and three great-great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Maureen Nelson and Kathleen Frickey and one nephew, David Nelson.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 28, 2014 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 45 Highland Avenue, Otisville, NY 10963. Fr. Michael Palazzo will officiate. Military honors will follow the Mass.
