Joseph Edward McCormick, a longtime member of the Middletown community and Vice President of Guy Carpenter and Company of NYC, died on Saturday, December 9, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was 81.
The son of the late Joseph and Grace Hines McCormick, he was born on July 28, 1936 in the Bronx. He married Cathleen Anna McLaughlin on September 4, 1958 at St. Joan of Arc Church and they shared 59 happy years together. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish in Middletown. Joe will always be remembered for his love and devotion to Cathleen and his family. He had a unique sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him. He was a boxing enthusiast and huge baseball fan who loved the NY Yankees.
Joe is survived by his sons, Kevin and his wife Barbara of Montclair, NJ and kenneth and his wife Katey of Newburgh; his two sisters, Joan Thue of Westbury, NY and Caroline Camillo of Congers, NY; and his beloved grandchildren, Tania, Bryce,Eka and David and great-granddaughters: Sage, Ana and Nina and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. 90 Euclid Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. Entombment will follow in the Queen of Peace Mausoleum in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, NY 10940.
