Obituary for Joseph Anthony Lucarelli
Joseph Anthony Lucarelli of Middletown, died Friday, June 9, 2006 at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus in Middletown. He was 93.The son of the late Leonardo and Angela Russo Lucarelli, he was born October 26, 1912 in North Hempstead, N.Y. He married Mafalda Belfiore, who predeceased him on July 16, 2004.He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Joseph was a bookkeeper for ConEdison Utilities in N.Y.C. He moved to the Middletown area 14 years ago with his family.A family statement reads: "He was a true gentleman, kind caring and loving. He was a very appreciative man who always put his family first. He enjoyed the finer things in life, like Bailey's Irish Cream and the New York Yankees."He is survived by his daughter, Denise Wagner and her companion, John Deyo, of Middletown; brother-in-law, Evieno Belfiore of Douglaston, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Norma Morello of the Bronx, and Lydia Novello of Bayside, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Craig and Suzanne Wagner.In addition to his beloved wife, Mafalda, he was predeceased by his brothers, Michael and Salvatore.Friends may call on Monday, June 12, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown. Burial with full military honors will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Middletown.Memorial contributions in Joseph's name may be made to the Wallkill Senior Center, 88 Senior Way, Middletown, NY 10940.Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
