Obituary for Jonathan Sampson
Jonathan Sampson, beloved son, brother, uncle and great-uncle, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at his home, He was 59.
The son of Rosalyn Sampson and John E. Sampson, he was born on January 6, 1962 in New York City. He grew up in the city and in 2002 moved to the Middletown area with his family. Jonathan was an easy going man who loved his family immensely, especially his nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Considered a genius at the age of 12, He was extremely bright and he had many creative interests. Jonathan wrote manuscripts, music and taught himself to play guitar. He enjoyed science and also taught himself languages including latin.
In addition to his devoted mother Rosalyn at home, he is survived by his brothers Kelvin of Middletown and Michael of Hackensack, NJ, and sisters, Stacey Theophilus and her husband Brian of Washingtonville, Stella Sampson of Middletown and Evelyn Sampson of Florida; as well as his 11 nieces and nephews, Christina, Louis, Nate, Sedeah, Frankie, Eric, Erica, Rosie, Christopher, Zita and Minah and 9 great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. The services will be livestreamed from 4 to 6 pm at www/applebee-mcphillips.com Cremation will be private.
