Obituary for Jon Joseph Bardagjy
Jon J. Bardagjy, 77, of Middletown NY passed away on September 6, 2022 from cancer.
Jon was born on November 29, 1944 to John and Lillian Bardagjy in Hackensack, NJ. He attended Middletown High
School from 1958 to 1962 and then went on to study chemical engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, he started his first job at Hoffman LaRoche in Nutley, NJ. Jon
eventually gravitated toward his family business, where he became the CEO and President of Middletown Photo
Engraving Co., Inc. in Middletown, NY.
In 2000, Jon met his spouse, Sanford R. Smith Jr., in Middletown where they both reside with their pedigree dogs
and exotic tropical fish. Together they enjoyed taking long walks and listening to classical music.
Jon was a sweet and gentle man who adored his dogs and especially his little nephews. His caring and generous heart
made him loved by all who knew him. Sincerity and morality defined him.
Jon was predeceased by his parents and sister, Lorraine
(Lori) Taylor. He is survived by his sister, Joan Stepanoff-Dargery.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am-12:00 noon at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home at 130 Highland Ave.,
Middletown, NY on Friday, September 9. Burial will directly follow at Wallkill Cemetery, 160 Midway Rd., Middletown, NY.
A message to Jon from Sanford: “Love is not defined by age, gender, beauty, race, religion or social standing. Love
comes from the feeling you have within your heart. Our hearts beat separately in this world so now we must be
apart. There will be a time when our souls can touch and then we will be as we were meant to be… as one.”
