John “Johnny” Yuen

John “Johnny” Yuen, a longtime area resident died Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Campbell Hall Healthcare Center. He was 88 years old.
Johnny was born October 11, 1918 in China and moved to the United States at a young age. A Veteran of WWII, he proudly served his country in the United States Merchant Marines. He worked as a chef at Grossinger’s Hotel in Liberty for over 30 years.
A family statement reads: “He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts”.
Johnny is survived by his beloved wife, Sio Lien, at home; one son John Yuen and his wife Donna of Clifton Park, NY; two daughters Maeying Groleau of Coconut Creek, FL, Maelien Spina and her husband, Jay, of Middletown; and two granddaughters Chelsea Spina and Kendall Spina.
He was predeceased by his son in law, Charles “Chuck” Groleau.
Family and friends are invited to call Monday, February 19th from 12 to 2 pm at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middeltown, NY 10940.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance will take place at 1pm at at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, February 20th at 11am at the family plot in Wallkill Cemetery.
