John T. Keefe of Middletown, NY died on Wednesday May 25 at O.R.M.C. Horton Campus Middletown, NY. `He was 78.
The son of the late John and Mae Keefe, he was born on January 9, 1933 in Manhattan. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1954-61 and was stationed in Berlin. After returning from his overseas duty, he worked as a telephone installer for New York Telephone for thirty years. His last position was a staff representative for CWA for Verizon for 14 years.
He was a hobbyist who enjoyed building tanks, trains and airplanes. he loved the History channel and collecting brass trains.
John is survived by his longtime companion, Joan Bosco at home; his children, John James, Christopher and Susanne Keefe, all of DE and Eleanor Barclay and her husband James of PA; a sister Joan Topal and her husband Barry of West Palm Beach, FL; and grandchildren, Chrissy, Mandy, Johnny and Josh, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours are from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday, May 27 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc. 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, 149 Cottage Street, Middletown, N.Y. Burial will take place at Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, N.Y. Arrangements are under the direction of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc.
