Obituary for John Stelmack Sr

Our family is saddened to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather, John Stelmack, at Garnet Medical Center on August 11, 2022.
John was born in the Bronx to parents Andrew J. and Helen Rojack Stelmack on December 2, 1944. After graduating from James Monroe High School, he worked for 20 years for the MTA and after moving to Middletown, he was the proprietor of a Duraclean franchise and also worked as a custodian for the Middletown City School District.
He married the love of his life, Elisa A. Forestieri and they raised three children, moving the family to Middletown in 1973. While John was a man of few words, his sharp wit and dry sense of humor could always be depended upon to bring a good laugh to all. He was a devoted father, who attended all of his kids’ games and events. Whenever we hear an Oldies song we are reminded of his fondness for the music of the 50’s and 60’s (and we can sing all the verses!).
Surviving him are his loving wife, Elisa at home, his son John Jr. and his wife Cori, of Goshen, his daughter Andrea Stelmack of Conway, S.C. His daughter Jeannine Stelmack-Schade predeceased him in 2008. He is also survived by his adored grandchildren, Hope and Robert Schade and Leo Stelmack.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 4-7pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 11am with Fr. Paul Denault. O.Carm officiating.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Josephs Cemetery.
Donations in his name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
