The son of James and Ruth Sorison Slaven, he was born on November 11, 1969 in Staten Island, NY. John worked for Hannaford's Supermarket in Middletown. He collected car models and liked playing video games. He enjoyed talking with his sister, spending time with his friends and the New York Yankees. He loved his church and cherished his wife, Robin.
In addition to his loving wife, Robin at home; he is survived by his sister Bonnie Blatchford of Port Jervis, brother, Gene Blatchford of Binghamton and his nieces, Kimberly (Whiskers), Rose, Gabrielle and Nicole and nephews, Michael, Edward, Paul, Steven, Joseph and Gene, great niece, Natalia and great nephews, Jayden and David..
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, Nov. 1 at Scotchtown Presbyterian Church, 367 Blumel Road, Middletown, NY 10941. Pastor Matthews will officiate the service. Cremation will be private.
Due to Severe Weather predictions, Visitation hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Wed., October 31th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY, 10940.
