John Walsh “JW”, 83, passed away on Friday, January 5 at Orange Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was the son of John and Helen Walsh. He was born on June 23, 1934 in Goshen NY.
John lived in Middletown all of his life and was a long time plumber. (JW Plumbing & Heating). He was an avid hunter and exceptional fisherman. He was a member of the Oak Ridge Rod & Gun Club and could often be found enjoying breakfast regularly with his friends at the Quickway Diner in Bloomingburg. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by daughters, Barbara Carr and her companion, Douglas Muller of Monticello, NY and DeVona Springer of Middletown; daughter-in-law, Kathie Walsh of Port Jervis, NY; and his beloved companion, Ruth Ruger of Otisville, NY. He is also survived by grandson, Chris Carr and his wife, Tammy of Pine Bush, NY; granddaughters: Sara Walsh of Port Jervis, NY, Rai-Ann Springer and Monica Springer of Middletown NY; brother, Edward Walsh and sisters: Margaret Decker, Anna Post and Joy Walsh, all of Middletown NY; great-grandchildren: Kirsten Gundberg, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jaclyn Crum; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff on the third floor of Orange Regional Medical Center, particularly Kelly, Melissa and Kristy, for their compassionate care; and also Dr. Paul Eugenio for his compassion, support and guidance to our family.
John was pre-deceased by wife, Adelaide Walsh; son, Larry Walsh; brothers: Arthur Walsh, Charles Walsh, and William Walsh; sisters, Helen Bennett and Florence Maurizzio.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Ave., Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 11th at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the family plot in Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
