John E. "J.D." Dawson, a former Director of Operation for the Las Vegas Salvation Army, died unexpectedly at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. He was 59.Â
J.D. was born on January 15, 1954 in Oceanside, CA, the son of Sharon Russell Dawson and the late Ernest Dawson. He married Amber Brown on November 19, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV. He and Amber moved from Nevada to Wurtsboro three years ago.Â
J.D. loved to ride and was a member of the Wallkill Hells Angels. He was a dedicated member of his club who was loved for his sense of humor.Â
J.D. is survived by his wife, Amber; son, John Dawson, Jr. of Des Moines, IA and his daughter, Celeste Zarling of Washington; stepson, Brian; brothers, Ernest and Brian Dawson; sisters, Kathleen Carroll, Kelly Turner, Shari Dawson Dunworth and Colleen Ogle. J.D. is also survived by his grandchildren: Zain, Zack, Allie and Delancey.Â
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, January 24th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc., 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 25th at the funeral home, burial will follow in Bloomingburg Rural Cemetery, Rt. 17M , Bloomingburg, NY.Â
